Why We March For Life

Thousands gathered together on Friday in the nations capital to march for the unborn, the voiceless, and most importantly – life. it was a historical event, proving that the pro-life movement is stronger than its ever been before. Much to the Leftist media’s dismay, President Trump was the first president in history to speak at the March and defend life. “Let us reaffirm a fundamental truth: all children, born and unborn, are made in the holy image of God,” he stated boldly and courageously in his speech, expressing the purpose of the march.

The heart of the pro-life movement is simply that: preserving the life of children from conception onward because, every child, born and unborn, are made in the image of God. It has been proven scientifically that there is human life inside the womb, which makes it obvious that there is no logical or moral reason for a baby to be killed.

The pro-choice movement argues that it’s the women’s right to choose, and that its just a fetus or a ‘clump of cells,’ or even ‘reproductive health,’ but science is against this simply because it’s been proven time and time again where human life begins. No amount of political correctness or pro-choice argument is going to diminish the fact that human life begins at conception, and that abortion brutally takes the life of a defenseless child.

It may seem that the pro-choice movement is strong and overtaking the pro-lifers because Hollywood screams louder than the silent majority. With the liberal media on their side, it may seem that we are plummeting and the voiceless don’t stand a chance. But what was proven on Friday when thousands of people came to defend innocent lives, was that the movement is not backing down, and is in fact, ready to defend life more than ever before. The March for Life is different than most. It is a march led by and selflessness. It is led by people who are not marching for their own self-interest. They are marching for those who can’t march themselves. They are speaking for those who have no voice. They are empowering the powerless and defending the defenseless. These people aren’t marching in pure hatred, they are marching in love because they know life is worth defending. They know life matters.

The March for Life grew by the numbers this year, while the Women’s March was low in attendance. Why is that? Are people starting to realize reality? Are they starting to gain knowledge of the truth that life is important? Abortion is not reproductive healthcare, it is murder. Abortion does not empower women, it destroys them. The Women’s March is a march that tells you it’s okay to kill your baby, and that it’s okay to get an abortion because if you do, you will be successful. That is not a message that is attractive. That is a message of darkness and it is not empowering in the slightest.

I am not a mother, but an auntie. I have experienced babies being born, I have seen them grow up, and I have cherished the moments of watching them grow into their own little person. Life is precious. God formed life and that little child inside the womb is fearfully and wonderfully made. Nothing about watching a sister or a friend experience life inside the womb screams “it’s just a fetus,” because it’s the exact opposite. It screams “this is life and life is valuable”. I have watched a friend experience their baby moving inside of them, I have seen them wiggle on their own, and when they come out into the world, it’s a beautiful experience to watch them grow up and become who God created them to be.

A human life is more than just talking points or a political debate. A human life is not a political pawn or a clump of cells. Most importantly, an abortion is not a celebration, it is murder. These little lives inside the womb are human beings, and they deserve a right to live. While it may seem that the world is against life, the numbers on Friday showed differently. It showed that we don’t want to be silent anymore because when we are, the pro-choice movement ultimately wins. It showed that we are stronger than ever and are willing to defend the defenseless and give a voice to the voiceless. Life is worth celebrating and it’s worth fighting for.

Don’t let them tell you abortion is healthcare or that it will make you feel more powerful or successful, because that couldn’t be further from the truth. Abortion has consequences, but most importantly, abortion is murder and there is nothing logically or morally that will ever make that worth celebrating. We fight for life because we know it’s valuable. We work tirelessly to offer resources to pregnant women because we know life is precious. Babies are blessings, not burdens. This is why this movement hasn’t backed down and it’s why it’s grown. We won’t shut up because life is far too valuable for us to stay silent. This is why we march. “For you formed my inward parts; you knitted me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well. My frame was not hidden from you, when I was being made in secret, intricately woven in the depths of the earth. Your eyes saw my unformed substance; in your book were written, every one of them, the days that were formed for me, when as yet there was none of them.” Psalm 139:13-16
